PICKING FIGHTS OR PICKING FRENDS

Pinky was a powerhouse, so his mates all thought,
Along with all the other saps, that pinky ever fought.

For pinky had a reputation, as being toughest of the tough,
Until one day,I have to say, Selwyn called his bluff.

There where nine in all in pinky’s gang, all buying his protection,
The price they’d pay, was following pinky’s each and every direction.

“Hey listen closely all of you.” said pinky looking smug,
To his band of followers, each, a would be thug.

“We’ll strip the swimmers from slippery Sam,” as Selwyn was then known,
“And leave him there for the world to see how slippery Sam has grown.

Collectively they jostled him, like hyenas around a carcass,
And left him swimming in the pool, absolutely starkers.

Well Selwyn wasn’t about to just cop this on the chin,
If there was going to be a blue, he was going to win.

He left the pool at lightning speed, as he took up the chase,
He’d barely gone there thirty yards, and met him face to face.

Selwyn recovered his swimmers, from this one particular lout,
A quick exchange he did arrange, with one almighty clout.

The pool manager Mr. Johnson who wasn’t all that bright,
Demanded that these fellas get outside and fight.

So pinky led his troops out the front onto the tar,
Where courageously with Selwyn he began to spar.

He danced about and jabbed a bit, hooked out left and right,
Really looked impressive, a spectators delight.

“Come on pinky hit me, ya’ only muckin’ round,
“I recon your just full of wind, and make a lot of sound.”

“You’re here trying to show everyone, just how tough you are,
And I haven’t even raised a sweat so far.”

“All the guts and size you’ve got, it really does impede,
Any chance you ever had, of agility or speed.”

As Pinky drew back to strike at Selwyn, once more,
Selwyn hooked Pinky, Fair Square in the jaw.

Well Pinky went twirling like a drunken ballerina,
And flaked on the ground, so much serener.

Selwyn entertained several of this gang, and to their surprise,
They were the receivers of blood nose and/or black eyes.

He said ”come on Flower if you’d like to be next”,
As this whole affair took on a new text.

Cause the blokes they all scattered, leaving Pinky right there,
To soak up some sunrays, and a breath of fresh air.

Well Pinky came to, and saw Selwyn next day,
They had a heart to heart, down at Moore’s café.

Pinky said “Gooday Selwyn, I’ll be your friend”.
“Settle down a bit there Pinky, you must be round the bend”.

“My friends are not determined, by who won or lost a fight”,
But carefully selected, from those that treat me right”.

So when next time you stage a blue, with you and all of your,
Just take the time to think again, your flamin’ jaw.
